Demolition Services
Partial Demolition
Removal of agreed parts of a structure where the retained construction, stability, services and temporary works are defined for the project.
Full Building Demolition
Whole-building demolition where surveys, structural/stability information, services, hazardous-material boundaries, method, exclusion zones and waste responsibilities are established before work starts.
Soft Strip Demolition
Removal of agreed non-structural fixtures, finishes and partitions before refurbishment or fit-out, with hazardous materials and live-service boundaries checked separately.
Structural Wall Alterations
Structural removals or alterations only to an appropriate project-specific design or assessment, with temporary works and sequence determined by competent people.
Asbestos Specialist Route
If asbestos is suspected or identified, use the appropriate survey, assessment and licensed or otherwise competent specialist route before demolition disturbs the material.
Site Clearance
Site-clearance work to the agreed scope, with retained items, waste streams, access and handover condition defined in the quotation.

Demolition and dismantling are safety-critical construction activities. HSE guidance states that demolition or dismantling must be planned and carried out by competent people to prevent uncontrolled collapse, with the arrangements recorded in writing before work begins. The project should also establish structural stability, known or suspected services, hazardous materials including asbestos, exclusion areas, waste responsibilities and interfaces with neighbouring structures before the method is finalised.
If an existing structure or internal area needs to be removed, first define whether the work is non-structural strip-out, structural alteration or wider demolition. Do not start dismantling load-bearing elements, disturb suspect asbestos-containing materials or excavate around services from generic website instructions.
What You Need to Know
Demolition Planning & Structural Stability
HSE guidance requires demolition or dismantling arrangements to be planned by competent people and recorded in writing before work begins. Structural stability, temporary works and the sequence should follow the actual structure and competent design or engineering input where required.
Strip-Out vs Structural Demolition
Non-structural strip-out and structural demolition are not interchangeable. The scope should identify which elements are being removed, which are load-bearing or stability-sensitive, what must remain, and who is responsible for structural assessment or temporary works.
Asbestos, Services & Other Hazards
Before demolition starts, the project should address asbestos information, live or redundant services and other site hazards. Suspect asbestos must not be disturbed as ordinary demolition work; use the appropriate survey and licensed or competent specialist route for the material and task.
Waste & Site Clearance
The quotation should state which demolition waste, segregation, transport, documentation and final clearance activities are included. Waste responsibilities and any specialist disposal route depend on the material and project rather than a blanket 'all debris removed' promise.
